Congratulations on your engagement!
Welcome to the Great Falls Catholic Engaged Encounter. Our purpose is to provide a faith-based marriage preparation weekend for engaged couples. All weekends are held at the Ursuline Centre, 2300 Central Avenue, Great Falls, MT.
Catholic Engaged Encounter is an intense weekend experience offering you the time and opportunity to deepen your relationship with each other and with God.
Facilitated by volunteer presenting teams, you and your future spouse learn valuable communication and conflict resolution skills, explore the role of religion and values in your lives and discuss important topics like children, marriage as a sacrament and the power of commitment.
The weekend experience consists of 16 personal presentations, individual reflection and focused discussions with your future spouse. Take time out of your busy lives to focus on your relationship with each other and God.
The weekend is Catholic in orientation; however, many of those attending are not Catholic. Couples of all faiths are encouraged to take part as they prepare for marriage.
There is some opportunity for interaction during meals and the Liturgy. However, the weekend focus is on personal reflection and private couple discussion.
Six months prior to your wedding is ideal. Plan to attend no later than four weeks prior to your wedding, as the weekends fill that far in advance.
The weekend begins Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and concludes Sunday afternoon by 2:00 p.m. Couples are required to stay at the facility for the whole weekend. Saturday and Sunday meals are provided.

We will celebrate Mass on Saturday evening. We understand that not all attendees are Catholic and we want all to feel welcome. You do not need to dress up for Mass. We will close on Sunday with a brief prayer service and presentation of certificates, ending by 2:00 p.m.
Meals, pop, water and coffee will be provided. However, as we all like to snack, we ask you to bring a snack to share on our snack table: cookies, chips, cheese and fruit or one of your favorites. Also bring towels for showering and your own personal items such as shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Bring comfortable clothes the weekend is relaxed and very casual! You may bring your own pillow, but no sleeping bags, please. Also, please keep in mind there is no meal served on Friday night. The Ursuline Centre is a beautiful setting for a retreat. Men and women are housed on different floors and as we have no control over which rooms are made available to us, we wanted to let you know that you might have a roommate.
The success of the weekend for you and for the other couples depends upon continuity. You will be required to stay the entire weekend at the Ursuline Centre, and if for some reason you are not able to be present at all times, we request that you call us as soon as possible. If our certificate is required by your marriage priest, we will also need his written permission a week in advance if you are going to miss any of the weekend.
The weekend is presented by a priest and 2 couples. In a real sense, the weekend is made by you as a couple and the team is there to share some of their married experiences to help you focus on your relationship. We encourage you to dialogue privately with each other on all aspects of each talk given. It is a busy weekend, but it should be exciting and helpful for you. We know that you will come prepared to be open to each other. Please pray for our team too. We most warmly welcome you to the weekend. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Our community is always looking for charitable people to donate their time to our ministry. We often reach out to ask for prayers for the engaged couples that attend our weekend. The couple will receive a personal note card with the name(s) of those praying for them. This ministry can be fulfilled from the comfort of your own home!
If you have a strong call to serve our community, you and your spouse may be interested in serving as a team couple. Serving as a team couple involves writing talks on topics using your personal marital experience. To serve as a team couple, you and your spouse must be a couple in good standing with the Catholic Church.
If you would like to be a face in our community, but aren’t called to be a team couple you may be interested in serving as a host couple. Host couples arrive before the weekend starts to help engaged couples to their rooms at the retreat center. This commitment involves an hour or two of your time, but serves as a warm welcome to the engaged couples we serve.
